The trial, in plain words
- What's free
- Your family's first 2 assignments, with every draft, free: no card and no time limit.
- Getting in
- Silvo is letting families in in stages. Leave your name and email and Silvo emails you when your family's place opens.
- What you can use
- Everything in the Family plan, for every child.
- When it ends
- When your family starts a third assignment, Silvo asks whether you'd like to subscribe to the Family plan, at A$199 a year or A$24 a month. The trial takes no payment details, so nothing is charged unless you choose to subscribe. If you don't, the 2 free assignments keep all their drafts, and you can still sign in and take a copy of everything for 90 days, when your family and everything in it is deleted. Silvo emails you before that happens.
- Cancelling
- Nothing to cancel during the trial. On the paid plan: Cancel online any time, in two clicks. A yearly subscription runs to the end of the year you've paid for and a monthly one to the end of the month, and you aren't charged again. After that, feedback stops, but you can still sign in and take a copy of everything for 90 days, when your family and everything in it is deleted. Silvo emails you before that happens, and before each yearly renewal. On the monthly plan you can pause for up to 8 weeks, free, instead of cancelling.
- Refunds
- If Silvo isn't right for your family, ask within 30 days of your first payment and Silvo refunds it in full. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
- Fair use
- Every child in the family, up to 5, and every assignment they need, under fair use: the plan is for your own family's schoolwork. Nothing is charged per feedback or on top.
How it compares with the usual ways to get feedback
| What | Silvo | A private tutor | Paid essay marking | General AI chat |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| When the feedback comes | About two minutes after the draft is sent | At the next booked session | Usually days later | Straight away |
| Against the teacher's own marking guide | Always: it reads the guide first and your child checks it | If the tutor works from it | Usually, if you send it | Only if you paste it in and ask |
| Quotes your child's own sentences | Every comment, checked against the draft | Varies | Varies | Can quote words that aren't in the draft |
| Writes or rewrites the work | Built not to; a check reads every feedback first | Depends on the tutor | Not usually | Often, when asked |
| What a parent sees | A Family page for every child | Session notes, if provided | What your child forwards | Nothing |
| How it is charged | One price a year or a month for the family | By the hour | Per draft | Free or a monthly subscription per person |
Questions about price and the trial
How does the free trial work?
Silvo is letting families in in stages. Leave your name and email and Silvo will email you when your family's place opens. The free trial is your family's first 2 assignments, with every draft, free: no card and no time limit.
When your family starts a third assignment, Silvo asks whether you'd like to subscribe to the Family plan, at A$199 a year or A$24 a month. The trial takes no payment details, so nothing is charged unless you choose to subscribe. If you don't, the 2 free assignments keep all their drafts, and you can still sign in and take a copy of everything for 90 days, when your family and everything in it is deleted. What does it cost, and is anything charged on top?
One price for the family: A$199 a year, or A$24 a month (yearly saves A$89), GST included. Nothing is charged per feedback or on top, and your child never sees a cost.
Every child in the family, up to 5, and every assignment they need, under fair use: the plan is for your own family's schoolwork.
How do I cancel?
During the free trial there's nothing to cancel: Silvo takes no payment details for it. If you subscribe afterwards: cancel online any time, in two clicks.
You can also take a copy of everything and delete your family, with everything in it, from Family settings. Deleting asks for your password.
What if it isn't right for us?
Find out in the free trial, on your first 2 assignments: no payment details, and nothing to cancel if it isn't for you.
If Silvo isn't right for your family, ask within 30 days of your first payment and Silvo refunds it in full. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Is my child's work safe?
Silvo asks for a first name, year level and age, and never a surname, school or date of birth. Your child has no account and no email address of their own.
Your family's account and everything in it is stored in Malaysia today, on servers rented from Hostinger, and moves to Australia before Silvo opens to every family. To write feedback, Silvo sends the marking guide and the draft to an AI model (Claude, made by Anthropic, in the United States). It hides your children's first names first, unless you turn that off; photographed pages are read as pictures first, and names are hidden after that reading. Nothing your family uploads is used to train a model. Uploaded files and photos are deleted after 90 days, and you can delete your family and everything in it whenever you like.
Which subjects and year levels?
Years 3 to 12, and any written assessment in any subject: essays, reports, persuasive and narrative writing, source analyses and extended responses, including their tables, images and charts.
Not maths problem sets, oral presentations, performances, practical work or code.
What does my child need?
The marking guide from the teacher (a rubric, criteria sheet or task sheet: photos, a file or pasted text), and a draft: typed or pasted, a Word, PDF or slides file, or photos of up to 8 handwritten pages. Any phone, tablet or laptop with a web browser.
